The Grosse Ile boys’ and girls’ track team dominated their way to first-place team finishes at the annual Jefferson Track and Field Invitational on April 13.
The girls finished with 138 points, ahead of second-place Milan (122 points) and third-place Airport (71.5 points).
On the other side, the boys led the way with 103 points. St. Mary Catholic Central finished with 86.5 points and Milan was third with 71.
On the girls’ side, the Red Devils recorded four first-place finishes on the day and several top-10 runs out of the 13 teams in attendance.
The Red Devils were solid in distance events and went one-two-three in the 3200.
Alisa Erickson led the way with her first-place finish of 12:31.04, a season-record. Andi Fulmer (12:35.08) and Caitlin Korte (12:40.08) finished second and third, both personal bests.
Fulmer finished first in the 1600 with a personal-best 5:41.23.
Erickson was second with a season-best 5:43.29 and Korte was ninth with a 6:05.85 also a personal-best.
In the 400, Marisa Swick led the way with her season-best 1:03.95 run for first-place.
Hannah Fulmer (1:06.08) was fourth and Meghan Dieball (1:06.90) was sixth with a personal-best and season-best respectively.
The trio ran the 800 where Swick finished second with a 2:34.48. Dieball was third (2:37.87) and Fulmer was seventh (2:44.94). All three were season-bests.
Sky Livingston took charge in solo sprints with a fifth-place finish in the 100 (14.26) and a ninth-place finish in the 200 (29.92), both season-bests.
Over in the hurdle events, Marina Rensi was first in the 100 hurdles (18:25) as well as the 300 hurdles (50.12). Both were personal-bests.
In the 4×800 relay, Dieball, Fulmer, Erickson and Swick ran to a first-place finish in 10:11.87.
Rensi, Livinston, Maggie Holmes and Ciara Armstrong were second in the 4×100 (55.27) and Dieball, Fulmer, Swick and Natalie Christnagel were second in the 4×400 (4:34.99).
In the 4×200, Rensi, Livingston, Christnagel and Armstrong finished 7th with a run of 1:58.63.
Over in field events, Margret Justusson was 15th in shot with a throw of 24-feet, 1-inch and 23rd in discus with a throw of 53-10. Both were personal-best throws.
Erickson was third in high jump with a jump of 4-10 (season-best) and Ceecila Vesperman was 18th in long jump with a leap of 12-11 (personal-best).
Christnagel was fifth in the high jump (4-10, personal-best) and 19th in the long jump (12-8.5, personal-best).
Over on the other side, the boys also dominated in distance running. James Gedris was a triple winner after winning the 800 (2:07.15), the 1600 (4:41.84) and the 3200 (9:45.86). All three were season-best runs.
Matthew Graver was not far behind in each race. Graver finished second in the 3200 (10:39.97), third in the 1600 (4:50.66) and eighth in the 800 (2:13.91).
In the 400, Aiden Mazany finished seventh (56.28) and Zachary Bast was 15th (57.69) for personal-bests runs.
In sprints, Aaron Geeting led the way with a 10th place finish in 12.58. Luke Harwood was 12th in 12.67 and Joey Pizzo was 14th in 12.76. Geeting and Harwood were season-bests and Pizzo was a personal-best time.
Will Davis ran to a third-place finish in the 200 in 24.94 and Geeting (25.61) and Harwood (25.80) finished seventh and ninth, respectively for season-bests.
In hurdle action, Kyle Strong was third in the 110 hurdles (17.19, season-best) and sixth in the 300 hurdles (46.14, personal-best) and Jim Camilleri was seventh in the 300 hurdles (46.16, season-best) and 11th in the 110 hurdles (18.88, personal-best).
Davis, Harwood, Geeting and Pizzo led the relays with a second-place finish in the 4×200 in 1:36.89.
Camilleri, Harwood, Davis and Pizzo were third in the 4×100 (47.15) and Grave, Gedris, Chad Donahue and Lucas Centlivre finished fourth in the 4×800 (8:59.87).
In field events, Jacob Gaudette finished fourth in shot put with a throw of 42-8 (season-best) and fifth in discus with a throw of 117-02 (personal-best).
Maverick LaMonthe was 15th in shot put with a throw of 36-09 (season-best) and 30th in discus with a throw of 77-04 (personal-best).
Davis led the way in jumping events with a fourth-place finish in the long jump and a leap of 20-02.5 and a personal-best.
Nick Lepidi was 14th in high jump with a personal-best jump of 5-3 and a 25th in long jump with a personal-best jump of 16.02.5.
