‘May the 4th be with you’ is prom theme
Students from Trenton High School got all dolled up Saturday, May 4, and headed over to the Grecian Center in Southgate for Prom 2019.
The students entered a galaxy far, far away when they walked through the door to the “May the Fourth be with you” themed dance. The Imperial March blared through the speakers as the students entered and voted for the King and Queen.
Around 7:30 p.m. the music began and the students hit the dance floor. The seniors were enjoying their last high school dance that they would ever attend and the juniors and sophomores that were in attendance had a blast as well. Dance classics like The Cupid Shuffle and Cha Cha Slide played while the kids crowded the DJ booth; hands in the air, waving all around like they just don’t care.
Eventually, the moment that many had been awaiting rolled around, the court was being crowned. Madison Kell, Alexis Kettler, Rachel McIntosh, Deena Szalay and Carly Smith all anxiously lined up in front of the DJ, waiting to find out who would be crowned queen. The boys, Nicolas Baldwin, Craig Hammond, John Tuttle, Devin Dunn and Gabe Doree, waited as well.
The king was crowned first. As Ms. Holcomb announced that Nicolas Baldwin was the winner the crowd went wild. Next up, Ms. Holcomb announced the queen, Alexis Kettler. All of the students cheered, clapped, and whistled; excited for their friends as the court dance began.
Alexis Kettler was extremely humbled by the experience.
“I am very honored to be selected by my peers for prom queen,” Kettler said. “I will continue to work hard to represent my class in a positive way.”
Prom King Nicolas Baldwin was also happy to have won the title.
“I am so thankful for all of the people that voted for me. I had tons of fun at the dance and winning made it just that much better.”
