District hard at work getting ready for the new school year

While parents, students, and staff have been enjoying summer break, Trenton Public Schools have been busy preparing for the 2019-2020 school year.

Parents, staff and certainly students are all getting anxious for the start of the school year. A new school year brings a fresh start for all involved in the schools. Staff are excited about another school year, students are ready to see friends and participate in the many school activities that Trenton Public Schools offer, and parents are ready to get into the routine of having their children back in school.

With the people of Trenton supporting a $57 million bond, the schools have been busy this summer preparing Anderson Elementary School and Hedke Elementary School with two new kindergarten classrooms at each building along with a new cafeteria, music, and gym area at each of the buildings.

Trenton High School is in the planning stage for the many improvements that will happen with the bond. Planning will also begin for bond work to be done at the middle school. Detailed information can be found on the school’s website at www.trentonschools.com under the 2018 Bond.

Trenton Public Schools have also been working to coordinate an $81,750 Michigan State Police Safety Grant into the bond work as timelines need to be met with the grant and the bond work.

Trenton Public School staff have been in and out of the buildings. Curriculum changes and improvements happen as schools look to continuously improve. Our staff will spend time in the summer preparing for changes and making improvements to best meet the needs of all of our students in Trenton.

Trenton Public Schools also have staff members who are working throughout the summer behind the scenes in each of the buildings. The staff has been busy waxing the floors of the buildings, cleaning all the windows, taking care of the grounds, preparing the gym surface at the high school, and all the other many projects that go into preparing all the schools in Trenton. We want all of the buildings to make each of the students feel welcome in a clean and safe school environment.

If you live in Trenton and are eligible to attend Trenton Public Schools, the Trenton Public Schools Board of Education Office is open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays. You are highly encouraged to register your children for school as soon as possible. This helps all of us with scheduling.

Trenton Public Schools has a mobile app. It can be downloaded by searching Trenton Public Schools on the Apple App/Google Play stores. The mobile app can be downloaded to your tablet or your phone. It allows for access to ParentConnect, StudentConnect, MISTAR-Q and other icons for information. More information can be found at https://www.trentonschools.com/Page/3315
