As everyone already knows, school has been cancelled for the rest of the year. I never would have thought that Thursday, March 12, would be my last day at THS.
School wasn’t something that I particularly enjoyed, but every student, including me, looks forward to their senior year. I had already bought my prom dress and my cap and gown. Even though graduation and prom may still happen, it won’t be the same.
People will already have prepared for their post-high school life, and some may already be living it. Between military boot camps and college move-in days, we will already be beginning a life on our own.
This fall, I’ll be attending the College for Creative Studies in Detroit to study fine arts. In a way, this self-isolation helped me make my decision. It gave me more time to explore my options and think about what I want the rest of my life to look like. There’s a silver-lining to this situation, but it’s different for everyone. For me, I’m happy to spend more time with my parents, even if they annoy me sometimes.
All jokes aside, I wanted to say thank you to Trenton High School for giving me a place to grow these past few years. I’ll miss my teachers, especially Mrs. Degayner and Mrs. Lopez. I’ll miss the fun filled bus rides to Quiz Bowl matches and Marching Band invitationals.
And, of course, I’ll miss my friends, because even though we all wanted to go home as soon as we entered the building, we always found a way to laugh and have fun together every day.
I hope I’ve been able to give everyone some valuable insight on what’s happening at THS. Thanks again Trenton. Stay safe, take care of yourself, and be patient!
