Ricky Kidd
Basketball, Senior
Last year’s season being wiped out did not deter Trenton High School senior Ricky Kidd and, in fact, it may have made him more determined heading into his senior year. Playing meaningful minutes for the Trojans basketball team that has seen their season pushed back, Kidd also will be expected to be one of the top arms on the mound for the baseball team as they look forward to a much more compact schedule than normal. Kidd’s consistency on the court and on the field is mirrored with his consistency in the classroom. Carrying a 3.98 grade-point average, Kidd is also a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society and the Environmental Club. For his efforts in the classroom and in athletics, Kidd has been named All-Academic Downriver League for both basketball and baseball. As he looks toward the next step of his educational and sporting journey, Kidd is seeking the opportunity to continue playing baseball. Currently speaking to schools like the University of Tampa, Wayne State University and Grand Valley State University, Kidd will have an array of appealing options to choose from. Though his collegiate decision has yet to be made, he has already decided that he will be majoring in sports management wherever he winds up. His inclination toward sports is apparent, but he was even more sold on the idea of sports management as a major after taking a business management class at Trenton High School. His parents, Richard and Amanda Kidd, are excited for what the future holds for their son. — Brian Rzeppa
