The Gabriel Richard High School theater program welcomes its new director, Brendan Delaney from Madonna University, as well as the many individuals that make up his team. Mr. Delaney and his team are very excited to continue working with the many young actors in the drama club.

The 2021 spring show was “10 Ways to Survive the Zombie Apocalypse,” which was performed from April 23 to April 25. The group of young actors have been rehearsing since early March, and have been anxiously awaiting opening night.

“10 Ways to Survive the Zombie Apocalypse,” is a 30-minute comedy that skillfully guides the audience through several ways of surviving when civilization collapses and the animated corpses of many previously kind people try to hunt down the remaining human beings. Despite its serious nature of the play it manages to have any audience in good humor by its end.

Mr. Delaney and the cast have discussed performing two musicals throughout the 2021-2022 season. The aforementioned play is the first musical performed at Gabriel Richard in many years.

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the Gabriel Richard theater program has done an impressive job of protecting the health of not only the students, but the production team as well by strongly enforcing social distancing protocols and mandating the donning of masks.

This show was the first at Gabriel Richard since the start of the pandemic, and the cast was very excited to see the return of some normality in their lives. The drama club contains a great many talented people, and they welcome any member of the community who wishes to participate.

Autumn Stevens is a sophomore at Gabriel Richard High School.
