Ethan Rooney
Cross Country Senior
Now in his senior year at Trenton High School, Ethan Rooney has been just about as active as one can be throughout his time as a Trojan. Currently standing out for the cross country team, Rooney previously has played football, baseball, basketball and golf and plans to run track in the spring. Throughout all these sports, he is carrying a 3.6 grade-point average, which has earned him membership in the National Honor Society. Not only has he performed well in the classroom, but Rooney has served as one of the most consistent cross country runners over the past few years. He was team MVP last year and also took home the Easy Day Champ Award at the team’s end-of-year banquet. The award is given to the athlete known for never taking easy days. Into this year, Rooney also medaled at the Sterling State Park Meet. Looking toward the future, Rooney is hopeful to continue his cross country career but has not yet made any firm decisions. He is considering attending Eastern Michigan University, Grand Valley State University and Michigan State University, but is going to use the next few months to make a final decision. In terms of his career path, Rooney hopes to major in finance as he loves math and has a particular passion for statistics. His parents, Trina and Brian, are excited to see how strong Rooney closes out his senior year. — Brian Rzeppa
