Four students in a play production class at THS have written and composed their very own play script. The four students — two seniors, one junior, and one freshman — intend to perform their play on May 15 for a small audience.
The initial conception of the play, “Tyranny of Faith,” was done by Trenton High School’s Devan Allstead. The four students met together during class to discuss the plot of the script and senior Tegan Oppelt to the disconnected ideas and themes of her fellow students and weaved the pieces together into a fluid and understandable plot. She built off the ideas of her fellow students and was able to create a full one act play.
Katelyn Loger, a freshman, was in charge of researching different clothing styles of the Puritan time. She researched the different rules and customs of the Puritan society in order to better help her fellow classmates understand the time period they would be mimicking.
Sydney Iski, a junior, was in charge of designing different aspects of the set. She was also asked by Oppelt to peer edit the script, to check it for mistakes and rewrite several lines in the correct dialect.
Devan Allstead was the senior who brought them all together. He acted like a director of sorts and gave his fellow classmates assistance and guarantees whenever they needed. He also dealt with props and the design of the show’s poster.
The four students are eager to see their hard work payoff. They are rehearsing every day and working hard to make their show a success.
