Staff vs. students game is great fun
Boyd Arthurs Middle School students started Spring Break off in a great mood, with a students vs. staff basketball game assembly on the last day of school before the break began. During the game, four students who won a raffle got to sit courtside on a couch for each quarter. The staff ended up with the victory, but halftime was the real show when the Get Into The Groove class performed a dance and staff members got “pied in the face.”
The whole week leading up to the game, the students voted on which staff members they most wanted to see get the pies by paying for votes. The staff member from each grade or special category with the most votes got pied. Then, any student who voted was put in the raffle to determine who got to actually put a whipped cream pie in a teacher’s face!
All money raised went to the school PBIS program. The staff members who got pied were Mrs. Rhoades, Mr. Beltran, Mr. Lee, Mr. Hicks and Mr. Kopera.
The AMS media center also had a big month with the book fair and a tournament of books, called “March Book Madness” – schools across the world participate in this fun contest.
This year’s winner was A Night Divided by Jenifer Neilson, which beat Percy Jackson the Lightning Thief in the finals.
